Welcome to the Bear & Tide

Every boater's paradise. The Bear & Tide invites you to experience the quiet rhythm of tide and forest. Whether you arrive by your own boat or take advantage of our pick-up service, the adventure begins the moment you step onto the dock.

Nestled along the shores of Chatham Channel in BC’s stunning Broughton Archipelago, The Bear & Tide offers a peaceful, off-grid escape into nature. With two well-equipped cabins, sweeping ocean views, and abundant wildlife, this is your place to unplug and reconnect with nature. After a day out on the water, tie up at our dock and step ashore to cozy cabins with a front-row view of whales, bears, and wild coastal beauty.

Meet Your Host

Hi, I’m Camille — the face behind The Bear & Tide. I’ve called this slice of paradise home for the past eight years, though my roots run deep here as a born-and-raised Vancouver Island local. Tucked away in the wild beauty of the Broughton Archipelago, I live remotely with my three loyal dogs, one independent cat, and a whole lot of wilderness for company.

Alongside hosting guests at The Bear & Tide’s two cozy cabins, I also run the area’s remote post office — a unique little hub in this otherwise off-grid corner of the coast. Life out here moves with the tides and the seasons, and when I’m not welcoming travelers or sorting mail, I’m usually lending a hand to neighbours, tinkering with a new project, or simply soaking up the quiet magic of this place.

Whether you’re here to unwind, explore, or just breathe a little deeper, I’m happy to share the peace and beauty of this special spot with you.

“A fantastic place to stay! A couple of friends and I spent 3 nights with Camille this March and found the cabin to be a super cozy place to retire to after full days exposed to the elements. The dock is well positioned out of the weather and the doggy welcoming team is also top notch! Clean, functional, nicely put together.”
